Historic Community Planning & Outreach
In 2022 - 2023, Woodland Park embarked on a historic community planning initiative to identify key historic resources and areas for potential recognition by the Michigan State Historic Preservation Office and the National Register of Historic Places.
This effort was led by a local community work group and supported by external consultants, The Right Place Inc., and MSU Extension. Funding for the process was generously supported by the Fremont Area Community Foundation.
“They had found Woodland [Park] more suitable to their lifestyles. Here they could fish, hunt for deer, and raise enough food to sustain themselves.”
— Annetta Gomez-Jefferson, “In Darkness with God”.
